Rules and Regulations
- Age & Enrollment: Applicants must be between 18–26 years old and either currently enrolled in or applying to an accredited trade school, college, or university.
- Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need where scholarship support will significantly impact their educational and career goals.
- Letter of Intent: Applicants must upload a 1-page letter outlining their career aspirations, personal goals, and strategic plans for driving positive community impact.
- Mentorship Commitment: Recipients must commit to mentoring peers and future applicants to support ongoing youth development.
- Industry & Community Aspirations: Applicants must demonstrate a strong desire to advance within their chosen industry and actively contribute to community development.
- Complete Application: All questions and required fields within the application portal must be fully completed.
SCHOLARSHIP DISBURSEMENT AND REQUIREMENTS
1. Award & Disbursement Schedule
- Traditional Colleges & Universities: $1,000 total award ($500 per semester for fall and spring). Funds are sent directly to the school upon enrollment verification. Summer terms are excluded.
- Trade Schools: $1,000 total award sent directly to the institution at the start of the program to accommodate shorter program durations.
2. Academic Renewal Requirements (Spring Semester)
- To qualify for the second $500 disbursement, recipients must:
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA ("C" average).
- Submit official grades/transcripts to a Barber Gibbs Dream team leader.
- Failure to meet the GPA requirement results in forfeiture of the spring disbursement.
3. Student Direct Cash Incentives
- Incentives are awarded directly to the recipient (not the school) upon grade verification:
- Academic Achievement Bonus: $50 for each course grade of "A" starting in the second semester (up to $500 maximum).
- Trade School Licensing Bonus: A $500 direct incentive paid upon successfully obtaining your official trade license.
4. Key Policies & Compliance
- Payment Routing: Scholarship funds go directly to educational institutions; student incentive bonuses go directly to recipients.
- Verification: All payouts require active enrollment and grade verification.
- Compliance: Continued funding depends on meeting all reporting and mentorship requirements.
